OVMA supports a ban on the use of lead shot for hunting waterfowl.
Background:
The ingestion of lead shot by waterfowl and raptors results in acute and chronic lead poisoning.
Steel shot is a reasonable alternative to lead shot and is not toxic to waterfowl, predators or
scavengers.
