Breathing just got easier for dyspneic canine patients presenting to TVEH… High Flow Nasal Oxygen Therapy (HFNT). This new modality provides warmed, humidified O2 support at flow rates not previously tolerated with standard means of oxygen supplementation. Although therapeutic mechanical ventilation will still be available for severe cases, early implementation of HFNT may eliminate the need for mechanical ventilations. Patients who may benefit from HFNT include: • Brachycephalic airway disease • Acute heart failure • Moderate to severe respiratory infections • Pulmonary fibrosis • Non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema For respiratory emergencies, rely on TVEH. From standard nasal oxygen support to advanced therapeutic mechanical ventilation and now everything in between.
